About EuroMillions

EuroMillions is a pan-European lottery operated by a consortium of national lottery organisations across nine participating countries, including the UK (The National Lottery), France (Française des Jeux), Spain (Lotterías y Apuestas del Estado), Portugal (Santa Casa) and others.

Players select 5 main numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 Lucky Stars from 1 to 12. Draws take place every Tuesday and Friday at 21:00 CET in Paris. South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) is 1 hour ahead of CET in winter and the same time as CET in summer, so results are typically available by approximately 22:00 SAST on draw nights.

The jackpot starts at €17 million and rolls over until won. It is capped at €250 million. Once the jackpot reaches the cap it is held for up to four more draws, after which a Must-Be-Won draw is triggered and the jackpot must be paid out, cascading down through the prize tiers if necessary.

All 13 prize divisions are paid on a pari-mutuel basis: the prize pool for each division is shared equally among all winners in that division. The exact euro amount varies from draw to draw based on total ticket sales and the number of winners.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play EuroMillions?

Pick 5 main numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 Lucky Stars from 1 to 12. Match all 5 main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win the jackpot. There are 13 prize tiers in total.

What is the EuroMillions jackpot cap?

The jackpot starts at €17 million, rolls over until won, and is capped at €250 million. Once capped, it is held for up to four more draws before a Must-Be-Won draw forces a payout.

What are Lucky Stars?

Lucky Stars are two bonus numbers drawn from a separate pool of 1 to 12. They are drawn after the 5 main numbers and must be matched separately. Matching Lucky Stars improves your prize tier even if you match fewer main numbers.

Can South Africans play EuroMillions?

EuroMillions tickets are sold in the nine participating European countries. South African residents cannot purchase official EuroMillions tickets directly. ResultsZA publishes the winning numbers for information purposes only.
